Hello, I'm Lim soon-gyu chairperson of KEPCO MCS trade union.
Today is our 5th annual national convention, and I'm interviewing on behalf of the delegates.
Our company started in 1973as a meter reading company called SHINIL TOTAL SYSTEM, in 2019, 5200 people were converted to regular employees without temporary work at KEPCO MCS, a subsidiary of KEPCO.
It has been five years since then and currently, our organization has around 4,000 individuals, including contingent workers.
Despite the fact that the area or district remains the same across the country, the number of employees has decreased by approximately 1,200. This has made it 2.5 to 3 times more difficult for our KEPCO MCS employees across the country than it was in the past. Industrial accidents that follow are occurring frequently.
We have made suggestions to the Ministry of Economy and Finance(MOEF) and the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy(MOTIE) regarding the current shortage. Despite our attempts to communicate our position in detail, new personnel are not being hired and automation(AMI:Advanced Metering Infrastructure) is in progressing. and we are continuing to contact the company, but we have been informed that the company's position is that "work is decreasing and new personnel are not possible."
So right now, we are asking for new tasks or tasks that can be done in the medium to long term. and in order to improve the working conditions and job security of our employees, the company must recruit new workers to narrow the scope of the work area and reduce the number of accidents. I hope and expect that this will lead to a better life for workers.
As I mentioned earlier, due to the automation of AMI system, our union members across the country are being forced into difficult conditions of unwanted personnel changes. Our labor union will try to minimize personnel transfers and, if it becomes inevitable, move to a nearby location to minimize the impact of difficulties on people's lives.
And we know that our members are facing these difficulties and suffering and that they cannot even tell us. we are continuing to communicate and inform people of our difficulties through the company, MOEF, MOTIE and through politicians from each political field. I will do my best as the chairperson to help our members find employment stability as quickly as possible.
Thank you so much.
